The Long Way Around
Four industries. One job description.
For most of my career, I wasn't in this world at all. I spent it helping organizations grow across four fields that, on paper, share nothing — until you notice they were all the same job: help people make a hard decision well, then hold them to executing it.
Communications
Providing communication systems internationally — where a message either moves people or misses them entirely.
International Market Development
Opened an office in Rome, Italy, building a distribution network throughout the region.
Credit Adjudication
Judgment under real stakes: the numbers tell you plenty, but never the whole story.
The turn — Financial Services
The moment the job description stopped fitting, and this became the work.
I was good at it. But the better I got, the clearer it became: I was helping corporations get ahead — not people.
The wins always landed on a balance sheet. The person who actually did the work was, in the end, just an input. And I didn't want to spend the rest of my life making big things bigger while the people inside them stayed stuck.
So I left. Not for a better title — for a better client. The one sitting across the desk, who's a person, not a production number.
